The Nada Brahma Foundation is dedicated to the research and preservation of indigenous people and their environment, and was formed in 1999. The foundation’s past work includes field research in Guatemala and Mexico (2000), where we documented indigenous music and plants, and recorded the bioacoustics of numerous undisturbed natural environments, sponsored in part by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. In 2001 & 2002, the Nada Brahma Foundation researched the connections between music, the environment, and religion on the Hopi reservation, Arizona. In 2003 - 2006, we documented and studied Balinese ceremonies, music, healing techniques. From 2007-2008, we were completed a 6-DVD set of ceremonies and rituals from Bali and Ghana. In 2009, we worked on a "Refugee & Conflict Resolution" project in Ghana, sponsored in part by the America Public University System. We also developed websites for various Ghanaian musicians, including Sulley Imoro, Alfred Kpebesaane and the Mbangba Cultural Troupe. In addition, we completed a website for the Meyah Preparatory School, established by Moses Emerson, a former UN peacekeeper, whose goal it is to transform the lives of needy and vulnerable children in Medie, Ghana. We recently returned from Bali, Indonesia where we were documenting jegog and gong-making and also working on some educational assistance projects. Other work includes eco-sustainable building on the Hopi reservation, Arizona; web page development and educational assistance; and the production of documentary DVDs and CDs.

Nada Brahma’s research and education group consists of accomplished individuals with a wide array of skills and knowledge, including music, religion, eco-sustainable building, videography, ethnobotany, technology and information systems. The work of the Nada Brahma Foundation is conducted by co-founders Cathy Silverman, M.F.A. and Jason Shanks, M.F.A.; consultation and project development I Made Sudana; percussionist and videographer Nico Spezzacatena; video artist vincent goudreau, B.F.A; video and photography; Michael Doran, technology and information systems specialist; Bob Babb, sound guru and engineer; Dr. Nat Bletter, ethnobotanist; Spencer Perlman, B.S., construction manager and eco-sustainable building; and Sulley Imoro, Dagomba drumming and dance, among many others.
